I’m a writer, editor, and communications
professional with more than 20 years of experience working in print
media. Most of my professional background has been as a staffer or
freelancer writing for journalistic publications. I’ve also worked
extensively in corporate PR and government communications, both as
an employee and a self-employed consultant. My degree from the
University of Wisconsin-Madison is in news-editorial journalism. I
studied business in the MBA program at Northwestern. As a writer, I didn’t set out to specialize in anything,
believing life would be more interesting as a generalist. In capable
hands, I think any subject can be made interesting. But at least
half of my work has been concentrated in a few areas. Foremost have
been cars and the related worlds of petroleum, alternative fuels,
and auto technology. I've also written a good deal about energy and
the environment. And you'll find articles here covering business,
travel, skiing, and other participant sports.
About this site…
LaRocque.biz is a repository of my clips. Listed and linked on
these pages are more than 100 published articles, columns, reviews,
web pages, case studies, and fact sheets. (Many more are indexed only as citations showing the publication
name and date, article headline, and page number.) Some selections
are offered as simple text files; some are PDF files with full
layouts as they appeared in print; and some are links to my work
elsewhere on the web. I hope it's organized logically enough for you
to find something of relevance and interest.
I am always delighted to hear from publication editors, PR and ad
agencies, government officials, and corporate clients with writing
and publication needs. If you were steered here by a query letter,
email, or phone call from me, I invite you to explore this site and
consider hiring me. Please call or write any time, and bookmark my
page for future reference.
